Xerox Anima (Reactor)
2018
various materials in showcase, dimensions variable
Across several levels of a cabinet showcase extends an accumulation of diverse objects, substances and illustrations: A juxtaposition and overlapping of organic and artificial, of archaic and modern materials and motifs merge to form a magical overall picture.
The whole seems to be more than the sum of its parts, as the title suggests: Anima (Latin for soul) refers to the belief that the things of nature are animated. Xerox, on the other hand, stands for the technical process of reproducing and reassembly, and Reactor for an energy-generating space. The fusion of references from nature, science, and mysticism forms a cosmos of its own, in whose fascinating and curious details the viewer is can immerse himself or herself.
